Recurring Volunteer Opportunities

Be there for sick kids and their families.

RMHC Volunteers serve diligently to create a safe, inviting, and supportive environment for families and their children experiencing serious illnesses.

As a volunteer at a Ronald McDonald House, you make a meaningful impact on children and families in their moment of greatest need.

We need people with a passion for our mission and the flexibility to help with wide-ranging tasks to keep things running smoothly at our Ronald McDonald Houses. Our volunteers commit to a minimum of two shifts each month for at least six months.

Volunteer Opportunities

Whether you’re welcoming families at the front desk, serving a delicious meal, or working behind the scenes to organize donated supplies, you’re helping families focus on what matters most – their sick children.

Due to a high volume of interest, the Individual Volunteer Program at RMHC Bay Area is competitive. If your interests and experience listed on your application are a match for an open volunteer position, the Volunteer Services Coordinator will contact you to arrange next steps.

Activity Room Volunteer (ages 16+)

Activity Room Volunteers work directly with the children staying at the house (both patients and siblings) in designated, age-specific activity rooms. They supervise and entertain children so parents can rest and recharge.

Team Volunteer (ages 18+)

Team Volunteers are essential to our mission by helping with the day-to-day operations of our house. No two days as a Team Volunteer are alike, and these flexible, passionate individuals handle a variety of tasks to ensure our house runs smoothly for the families we serve.

Kitchen Volunteer (ages 16+)

Kitchen Volunteers ensure families are served quality meals and food. They support the Meal Program Associate in daily operations to make sure all community kitchen spaces are clean and orderly.

Special Interest Volunteer (ages 16+)

Do you have a unique passion or talent to share? Or want to hop in on a particular recurring special event? We would love for you to join our team as a Special Interest Volunteer!

Highlighted Special Interest Volunteer Needs:

Sibling School Support/Tutoring Volunteers (16+)

Facilities Volunteers (18+)

Summer Camp (ages 16+)

Summer Camp Volunteers bring all things summer fun to the kids of the house! RMHC Summer Camp will run early June – early August. If you love working with kids and putting on engaging activities, we would love to have you as a Summer Camp Volunteer!
