Know Before You Go
We’re so excited to meet our new neighbors and officially celebrate the opening of Oakland’s first Ronald McDonald House with this free community event. We have joined partners from across Oakland and the East Bay to host a block party in our new neighborhood, where we will soon open the doors to our new 7-bedroom Ronald McDonald House Oakland, located directly across the street from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland.
Event Parking
Street parking is available around the neighborhood. There is a paid parking garage at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, located on Martin Luther King Jr Way, Oakland, CA 94609.

- Free Community Block Party begins (10 a.m.), including Kids Zone (see more below), DJ, Food Trucks, House Tours, and more!
- Meet the Oakland Fire Department (10 a.m.-Noon); kids meet-and-greet with local firefighters
- Live Entertainment begins (12 p.m.), featuring performances by the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra Chamber Quartet, Dan Ashley, Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, and more.
- Oakland House Tours (12 p.m.-3 p.m.): Tours of the new Ronald McDonald House Oakland will be offered on a first-come-first serve basis; please visit the RMHC Bay Area tent for more information.
Food & Giveaways
- Food Trucks: The first 200 guests will be provided with free meal vouchers. (Supplies are limited, thank you for understanding!)
- SWAG Bags for Kids Zone Participants: A limited number of awesome children’s goodie bags will be given away thanks to our giveaway sponsors, McDonald’s, Golden State Warriors, Oakland Athletics, Oakland Roots, Oakland Zoo, OCHO Candy, Visit Oakland, Martin Brower, and Keurig-Dr. Pepper.
Kids Zone
Upon entry, all kids will be given a stamp card. As they visit each Kids Zone station, they will collect stamps and receive a special SWAG bag full of goodies, thanks to our giveaway sponsors. The Kids Zone will include a Bouncy House, Face Painting, and activities provided by a wide-range of community partners, including the University of California San Francisco Police Department, Oakland Roots, Keurig-Dr. Pepper, Reading Partners, and more.
Kids will also have an opportunity to meet the official Ronald McDonald himself (starting at noon), and from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. attendees can visit with the Oakland Fire Department, and learn more about what it’s like to be a firefighter!
