Thanks to the incredible support of our East Bay community and beyond, we opened our first Ronald McDonald House in Oakland in 2023—just steps from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. What began as a 7-bedroom home for families is now growing to meet the need. Today, we’re expanding and tripling our capacity in Oakland, ensuring even more families can stay by their child’s side throughout their medical journey. Join us as we celebrate our House expansion!

Know Before You Go

In 2023, hundreds of neighbors, partners, and supporters came together to celebrate the opening of Oakland’s first Ronald McDonald House, a place built on care and community. Since then, families seeking care for their child in Oakland have found comfort, connection, and support just steps from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. Now three years later, that same spirit has made it possible to grow! This expansion is more than a milestone; it’s a reflection of what’s possible when a community shows up for families who need it most. Thank you for being by our side.

Event Parking

Street parking is available around the neighborhood. There is a paid parking garage at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, located on Martin Luther King Jr Way, Oakland, CA 94609.

  • Free Community Block Party begins (11 a.m.), including Kids Zone (see more below), DJ, Food Trucks, House Tours, and more!
  • Live Entertainment begins (12 p.m.),
  • Oakland House Tours (12 p.m.-2 p.m.): Tours of the new Ronald McDonald House Oakland will be offered on a first-come-first serve basis; please visit the RMHC Bay Area tent for more information.
  • Press Conference (10 a.m): The morning will begin with a press conference and featured speakers from 10–11 AM, immediately preceding the Community Block Party at 11 AM.

Food & Giveaways

  • Food Trucks: The first 200 guests will be provided with free meal vouchers. (Supplies are limited, thank you for understanding!)
  • SWAG Bags for Kids Zone Participants: A limited number of awesome children’s goodie bags will be given away thanks to our giveaway sponsors and event partners!

Kids Zone

Upon entry, all kids will be given a stamp card. As they visit each Kids Zone station, they will collect stamps and receive a special SWAG bag full of goodies, thanks to our giveaway sponsors. The Kids Zone will include a Bouncy House, Face Painting, and activities provided by a wide-range of community partners.
