In-Hospital Programs

Supporting families just steps away from their children’s bedside

Happy Wheels

The Happy Wheels hospitality cart serves children and families bedside at our partner hospitals:

  • Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford
  • UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco
  • UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland

Families at the hospital, including siblings, often wait long hours or even days without leaving the hospital or even their child’s bedside. Happy Wheels volunteers move throughout the hospital offering refreshments and snacks, toiletries, and age-appropriate toys to patients, siblings, and their families.

Since its inception, Happy Wheels has served tens of thousands of families, and demand for the service continues to grow. The success of Happy Wheels has captured the interest of Ronald McDonald House chapters throughout the world to share this special level of comfort and care while in the hospital.

In-Hospital Meals

Many parents are unable or unwilling to venture more than a few steps away from their sick child. Our daily meals at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco and monthly meals in Oakland relieve some of the financial burden and stress our families have to bear.

Sibling Support & Day Camps

Siblings are often displaced in the hospital, as parents are focused on medical care of their sick child. Similar to child life services for patients, our siblings programs and day camps provide fun and educational activities, field trips and opportunities to make friends with other kids who understand.
