RMHC Bay Area Honors Local McDonald’s Owner with Big Red Shoe Award

Scott Lamson recognized for four decades of supporting families with critically ill children

Palo Alto, CA — Ronald McDonald House Charities® Bay Area (RMHC Bay Area) honored Scott Lamson with the prestigious Big Red Shoe Award in recognition of his four-decade legacy of support to the Charity’s mission to be there for critically ill children and their families, providing comfort and support when and where they need it most. The Big Red Shoe award is reserved for exceptional volunteers, donors, and organizations that have demonstrated unparalleled commitment to RMHC Bay Area and the families it serves.

Lamson’s journey with RMHC Bay Area began in the 1970s when his brother Paul sought his assistance in establishing what would become the fifth Ronald McDonald House in the world at Stanford. Lamson  became a founding board member and pillar of Ronald McDonald House San Francisco in 1989. He has made significant donations and raised millions for the Charity over the last 40 years, including championing a $1 million lead gift from the local McDonald’s Co-Op for an upcoming expansion campaign.

“Scott’s commitment to serving others is evident in the work that he does as a Founding Board member and as a McDonald’s owner,” said Laura Boudreau, CEO, RMHC Bay Area. “He is our biggest cheerleader, and has inspired so many people – his family, customers, and fellow owner/operators – to get involved. Because of his vision and leadership, we have RMH programs at every major children’s hospital in the Bay Area and continue to grow in support even more children and families.”

In Scott’s words, “It is in the worst of times when we see how much people care through their love, support, and prayers.” Scott’s son, Greg Singiani, currently serves on the RMHC Bay Area Board of Directors, proudly continuing his family’s legacy.
