innovators in family-centered care
Ronald McDonald House Charities® Bay Area (RMHC Bay Area) provides communities of support, access to medical care, and the healing power of family and home for critically ill children.
Our vision is to create communities where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, courage, and joy.
RMHC Bay Area creates comprehensive programs and services to families uprooted by pediatric medical crises through our:
123-bedroom House at Stanford
Partner hospital: Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford
11-bedroom Ronald McDonald House in San Francisco
Located inside UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital at Mission Bay
2 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles
Providing preventative dental care to children throughout the Bay Area
We believe in the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a child is sick and that keeping families together is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed. More than a place to stay, our Houses provide safe and supportive communities for famiies to rest, heal and thrive together. Families staying at our Ronald McDonald Houses travel long distances to access their children's essential medical care and often stay far from home for extended periods. Although we ask for a nominal donation of $10 per night, no family is turned away due to inability to pay.
In 2018, three previously-affiliated local Ronald McDonald House entities - Ronald McDoanld House at Stanford, Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco, and Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bay Area - came together to serve more families as a fully-integrated RMHC regional chapter, now RMHC Bay Area.
