By Zoey’s Side Every Step of the Way

The Gravelin Family

When Zoey was born, doctors in her rural Nevada town didn’t realize how serious her condition was. Zoey was diagnosed with Cranial Cystinosis, a rare disorder that prevents the skull from growing properly. During what was meant to be a routine appointment, Dr. Grant, a visiting Stanford physician, told the Gravelin’s that Zoey needed urgent surgery—nearly 300 miles away from home.

When Zoey and her mom first arrived at Ronald McDonald House at Stanford, they quickly realized it was more than just a room. It was a community.

The House has given us a gift: a place where Zoey can simply be herself, accepted for who she is.``
